E256: Impromptu Speaking - E
E256: Mastering the art of speaking without preparation.
Impromptu Speaking: Thinking on Your Feet
Thinking on the spot isn't a talent; it's a trained response. Confidence is the mastery of structure in the presence of fear.
The 6-Step Process
- Listen: Fully absorb the question.
- Pause: Silence is power. It shows control.
- Confirm: Repeat or reframe the question.
- Select Structure: Pick your mental framework.
- Deliver: Speak with direction.
- Conclude: Reinforce the main message.
6 Mental Structures
Don't wing it. Use a map:
- Chronological: Past, Present, Future.
- Comparative: Case A vs. Case B.
- Evaluation: Pros, Cons, Conclusion (SWOT).
- Narrative: Storytelling. Character, Scene, Lesson.
- Factors: Break it down (e.g., Safety, Cost, Performance).
- Philosophical: Connect to a deeper truth (Mindset).
Takeaway: Abundance says "I will find a way." Scarcity says "I don't know." When you step into uncertainty with a structure, you train your decision-making muscles.
